Byers Homestead is located in Commerce Township, Michigan.  The land was settled in 1825 by a German immigrant, Abram Walrod, who built his log cabin next to a canal which is fed by the Huron River. The log cabin was later replaced by the 1840's farmhouse which still stands today. Byers is also known as "the Duck Farm" to local residents. These residents still bring their children to feed the ducks and take a quaint and peaceful stroll of the grounds.
